Jian Yao Tenmoku cups were famously used in the "Tou-cha" (tea-competition)
ceremonies popular at the time to judge the quality of the water.
While they were originally intended to be jet-black vessels like "Wuzhan,"
various kiln-transformation (Yohen) patterns emerged depending on the kiln conditions.
In this piece, silver oil-spot patterns appear on both the interior and exterior.
Furthermore, under direct light, iridescent colors emerge, making it a truly rare masterpiece.
